Fall 2022 Updates – Scholarships Grow, Food Packs Made, HS Develops

Haiti On The Rise has had a fulfilling 2022 because of your support. Beginning with four student scholarships in the 2016-17 academic year, the organization has grown the program substantially. During the current 2022-23 academic year, Haiti On The Rise has provided approximately 40 full scholarships to young students attending institutions ranging from primary, intermediate, and secondary schools to technical programs and four-year universities. In addition, more than 100 partial scholarships were arranged for grade school students this year. Your support enables young students in need to be a part of our scholarship program, for around 80% of the grade school institutions in Haiti are private. Our promising young students and their families would not be able to manage private school tuitions without your support, and we thank you greatly.

As some of you are aware, organized crime has disrupted daily living in Haiti for the past few months. Especially during the work week, it is difficult for local citizenry around Port-au-Prince to perform their daily routines. Many families are facing hindrances in obtaining sufficient nutrition as work, school, travel, and commerce have all been impacted. In response to this crisis, Haiti On The Rise has organized and deployed its local, volunteer network to procure and arrange emergency food packages for our scholarship students and their families. Key nutrition items have been procured locally; relief packs are being assembled; and a major distribution is scheduled currently. Thank you to all who have helped us make this happen. Haiti On The Rise is sure this effort shall be as vital as our emergency relief measures were following the August 14, 2021 earthquake.

Although building material deliveries have slowed in recent months, Haiti On The Rise continues to develop the new high school for the La Grotte community above Port-au-Prince. The foundation of the facility is complete, and our construction crews are awaiting the easing of supply chain disruptions so that they may resume work on the exterior walls, the interior classrooms, library, and computer lab. Haiti On The Rise thanks those whom have taken an interest in the future La Grotte High School – an institution which shall serve a community of 80,000 people.

Please continue to help the people of Haiti. On Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, Haiti On The Rise shall present its 8th Annual Gala starting at 7PM (PST) via Zoom. The event will highlight our 2022 accomplishments and exhibit our humanitarian plans for Haiti in 2023 and beyond.
