Haiti On The Rise Prepares Earthquake Relief Packages

Haiti On The Rise Volunteers in Port-au-Prince Prepare Earthquake Relief Packages

As soon as Haiti On The Rise Executive Director Jacqueline Oriscar Lee learned about the August 14th, 2021 Haiti earthquake, one of her many priorities was how the non-profit she founded could assist the victims and survivors of the impacted regions. From abroad, she managed to get in contact with administrators and other civic leaders in Haiti. They all stated that the isolated community of L’Asile – just a mere 11 miles from the epicenter of the devastating 7.2 magnitude quake – was greatly in need of emergency supplies. The agricultural township in southwestern Haiti had just lost one-half of its homes from last Saturday’s disaster, and is a community that never fully recovered from 2016’s Hurricane Matthew nor the continual years of drought thereafter.

Jackie, again communicating from abroad, immediately negotiated with local vendors in Port-au-Prince to arrange the assembly of emergency supplies consisting of food, water & other beverages, hygienic items, cooking fuel, temporary shelter, and other supplementary goods. Today Haiti On The Rise volunteers, with many of them being our young scholarship recipients and their parents, are completing emergency relief packages consisting of the above items and destined for L’Asile very soon.

Jackie and I thank all of the recent donors concerning last Saturday’s natural disaster for making our relief efforts possible. Please hold in your thoughts and prayers for an effective, timely delivery of emergency supplies to the needy and a safe return of our transport crew, as they will encounter damaged roadways and possibly other obstacles during their travels. Our relief effort will most likely be the first of many to the stricken southwestern departments (ie states) of Haiti, and we will keep you updated on our on-going activities. If you would like to support our relief efforts or Haiti On The Rise in general, please visit our Donate Page. Thank you again for your interest and support of the people of Haiti and Haiti On The Rise in this critical period.

With Love & Prayers for Us All,

Randall & Jackie Lee
