New Building Gives Hope to Camp-Lamentin in Carrefour, Haiti

On July 14, 2019 parishioners of St Monique enthusiastically welcomed their new pastor and the completion of a new rectory building in Camp-Lamentin, Carrefour, which is just south of Port-au-Prince along the Caribbean Sea.   During the inauguration, many expressed their gratification in the finishing of this rectory, which will serve more than 3,000 people.  “We would have had difficulty erecting this building ourselves, but are so thankful to Haiti On The Rise and our late Pastor Fr. Marat Guirand to help us realize this.”  ” said a guest speaker at the inaugural ceremony.  Draped across the main street of Camp-Lamentin, a banner expressed the gratitude of the community, “Thanks to Haiti On The Rise’s Supporters.”

Camp-Lamentin also desires to have their church redeveloped someday.  Many have been relocated in this area after the 2010 Earthquake and Hurricane Matthew.  With a growing population, the neighborhood requires a school, a clinic, and other structures.
